Reverse the Signs of Aging with a Face Lift

A facelift surgery at our Chesterfield, MO, practice can dramatically rejuvenate your appearance and reverse the effects of aging, often caused by stress, the environment, and other factors. This cosmetic procedure can address sagging cheeks, loose facial contours, and wrinkles that topical solutions such as BOTOX® Cosmetic cannot provide. At our practice, we offer our patients the option of a full facelift, mini facelift, or endoscopic mid-facelift, depending on their unique needs. Dr. Stanley L. Librach’s experience and training is supplemented by our advanced technology to deliver our patients the best possible care.

Types of Facelift Procedures Offered

Dr. Librach offers a variety of facelift options at our medical practice that will be customized for each patient. He will perform a detailed evaluation to review your medical history, overall health, and cosmetic goals before tailoring your unique treatment plan to your features and needs.

Full Facelift

This treatment is popular amongst patients in their 50s and 60s and addresses cosmetic concerns in the upper, lower, and mid face. Dr. Librach will make incisions along the temple, ears, and base of the scalp to reposition muscle and fat throughout the face and jowls. Liposuction can be combined with this procedure to provide an even more dramatic effect. Before closing the incisions he will redrape the skin and remove any excess tissue. If necessary, a secondary incision can be made under the chin to address excess fat and skin in the neck.

Mini Facelift

During this procedure, Dr. Librach will make incisions around the ears to elevate the skin, tissue and muscles in the lower third of the face and jawline. Dr. Librach will carefully lift and contour the chin and jawline, removing any excess skin and fat. If necessary, liposuction or fat grafting can also be combined with this procedure for added definition. Because of the very targeted effects of this approach, the procedure is often chosen by patients in their late 20s and 30s.

Mid Facelift

Also known as an anti-gravity lift, this endoscopic procedure addresses the features in the middle of your face, such as sagging cheeks, hollow areas under the eyes, and smile lines. This technique is less invasive than full and mini face lifts and generally leaves minimal to no visible scarring. During this procedure, Dr. Librach, will make small incisions in your hairline near the temple and inside your mouth to elevate and reposition your cheek pads over the cheekbones. This treatment can also be combined with a blepharoplasty to reveal a more youthful and rested appearance. Patients in their 30s and 40s typically find this treatment most beneficial.

Facelift Candidates

Ideal candidates for a facelift include patients who experience various signs of aging, including:

  • Excess skin on the face or neck
  • Sagging jowls
  • Deep nasolabial folds
  • Sagging or hollow cheeks

In addition, it is important that you have a good bone structure to support your facial features and are in good health overall. Patients whose skin does not have sufficient elasticity and those who smoke may wish to undergo different procedures to refresh their appearance.

Dr. Librach can work with you to design a treatment tailored to your exact needs.

Recovery from a Facelift

Your recovery will vary depending on the type and extent of facelift performed. In some cases, patients may require an overnight stay at the hospital for observation. During your follow-up appointment the next day, Dr. Librach will remove dressings and monitor your results. Most patients generally feel comfortable returning to work after about two weeks, once the swelling and bruising have subsided. Results can take up to several weeks to finalize, but can help enjoy a younger-looking and more alert appearance.
