Breast Augmentation: Achieve the Size, Shape, and Bustline You Desire

Are you dissatisfied with the look of your breasts? Do you wish they were larger, fuller, or more symmetrical? If you answered yes to either of those, you would be a great candidate for a breast augmentation.

As an established plastic surgery office in St Louis, MO, we offer breast augmentation procedures designed to produce results.

Breast shape, size, and proportion play a major role in every woman’s sense of physical balance, femininity, confidence, and self-perception. The art of a breast augmentation is much more than “enlarging” the breasts.

No two breast augmentations are the same. Each woman has unique goals and a different surgeon who performs them. Board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Stanley Librach has years of experience in the art of breast augmentation.

Dr. Librach believes while it may be important to increase breast size, achieving a natural and proportional outcome is always the ultimate goal.

A breast augmentation with implants can help re-contour your breasts, add volume to your bust line, making the breasts more proportionate with your body, and provide natural-looking results.

Underdeveloped breasts, breast deflation or certain breast deformities and breast asymmetries can be corrected through breast augmentation surgery.

Choosing the right plastic surgeon to perform your breast augmentation surgery is of high importance. What differentiates Dr. Librach and his team from the rest are comprehensive: extraordinary technical skills, a deep understanding and perspective of natural and proportional breasts, a passion for achieving stunning results that meet our patients standards, and much more.

From the initial free consultation at Dr. Librach’s office to the operative phase, and through the entirety of the recover process, you will experience the extraordinary care from the doctor and his team.

Your first visit is provides Dr. Librach an opportunity to get to know you, understand your desires and goals, to inform patients about the procedure and develop a treatment that will best suit you and your body, answer your questions and introduce you to our professional and compassionate staff.

There are a few primary components to understand during the consideration phase of a breast augmentation procedure: type, access, position and style. Dr. Librach and his team carefully consider each of these factors and will develop the best breast augmentation treatment plan personalized to achieve the desired goals of each individual patient.

Type of Breast Implant:

There are two main types of breast implants—silicone and saline.

We recommend silicone breast implants for most of our patients because they provide a more natural look and feel. Saline breast implants tend to be more firm and a rounder implant. The type of breast implant recommended to our patients will ultimately depend on the individual’s anatomy and their overall desired outcome.

Access Incisions for Breast Enhancement

A breast augmentation procedure can be performed using different incision tactics to minimize visible scarring including an incision beneath the breast in the lower crease, along the border of the lowest point of the pigmented areola, or through the underarm.

Dr. Librach will advise his patients on the best breast augmentation incision option. When determining which incision type to perform, he considers a variety of factors which include breast shape, implant selection, personal preference of the patient, areola size and more.

Position of Breast Implants

Implants can be placed above the muscle (subglandular) or placed below the muscle (submuscular).

2 Reasons Placement is Important

With regards to the implant, the chest muscle generally serves two purposes. Not only does it provide additional soft tissue coverage but it can also help shape the upper portion of the breasts.

It can be a challenge to make the breasts look natural with women who have minimal amounts of breast tissue. If we placed the breast implant under the muscle it would leave more tissue above the implant which would provide the desired look and feel our patients are wanting.

The most natural looking breasts have a bit of a slope and are not overly round; resembling a teardrop. When an implant is placed behind the muscle it helps give the sloped look to the upper portion of the breasts. This is an important factor to remember when using saline implants. Because saline implants are more stiff they should be placed under the breast muscle to achieve natural results.

Breast Implant Style

Implants come in a variety of shapes and sizes. Both round implants and anatomical implants assume a teardrop shape when upright. Considering the nuances of each patient’s anatomy and specific desires, Dr. Librach will advise his patients on which breast implant option will achieve their end goal.

With years of experience and attention to detail, Dr. Librach provides the high quality breast implants and cosmetic surgery to each of his patients.

Am I a good candidate for breast augmentation surgery?

If you feel self-conscious wearing form-fitting clothes or a swimsuit, if you believe your breasts are too small for your body, if your breasts have become smaller due to weight loss or having children, and if you are in good health and have realistic expectations, you would make a good candidate for breast augmentation surgery.

Is a breast augmentation procedure safe?

While breast implants are intended to last a lifetime, it is important to know replacement surgery could become necessary. Post surgery, it is recommended to have periodic exams by your surgeon to monitor the implants.

Surgical techniques for breast augmentation and all breast implants are continually being refined, increasing the safety and reliability of the procedure. Contact Dr. Librach if you have questions or if you are ready to make an informed decision.

How Long Will the Results Last?

The results of your breast augmentation surgery should be long-lasting; however, it is important to remember breast implants need to be replaced if they leak. Schedule follow-up appointments periodically with your surgeon to maintain the look you’re wanting.

What are the Associated Costs with Breast Augmentation Surgery?

The cost of a breast augmentation procedure varies from doctor to doctor. Schedule a free consultation with Dr. Librach to learn more about the breast augmentation procedure and the costs associated with it.

Will breast implants affect my ability to breastfeed?

In most cases, our patients are able to breastfeed if they have undergone breast augmentation surgery. There can be a higher risk for complications if your incision is done around the lower edge of the areola and if the implant is placed above the muscle, putting more pressure on the tissue.

If you plan to have children in the near future, consult with your surgeon so you can choose the surgical options that best fit your needs and are in line with your family planning.
