Abdominoplasty: Achieve a Flatter, Toned Stomach with a Tummy Tuck
COSMETIC SURGEON DR. STANLEY LIBRACH CAN HELP!
If you’ve reached your ideal body weight through diet and exercise and have excess skin and fat in your abdominal area that just won’t go away, a tummy tuck procedure is designed to help with that. Dr. Librach’s abdominoplasty procedure helps you achieve a tighter, more toned stomach.
Are You A Good Tummy Tuck Candidate?
There are many reasons why our patients seek out abdominoplasty. However, it is important to note a tummy tuck is not a substitute for a workout plan or weight loss. Most commonly, those dissatisfied with their appearance in the abdominal area have experienced:
- Multiple pregnancies
- Loss of elasticity in the skin
- Sudden or extreme weight loss
What To Expect In The Tummy Tuck Procedure
Abdominoplasty surgery is typically done under general anesthesia and lasts anywhere from 1-5 hours. Depending on if other body contouring procedures are performed during the same period dictates the recovery process and length of stay. In most cases, patients are not kept overnight.
The Recovery Process For Abdominoplasty
Small temporary tubes will be placed in the abdomen in order to drain any excess blood or fluid that builds up after surgery. Physical activity should be kept at a minimum following a tummy tuck procedure. Because each patient heals differently, following Dr. Librach’s specific instructions related to your personal, customized care plan is crucial.
Tummy Tuck Results
The full results of your tummy tuck will not be seen immediately due to swelling and improper posture following the surgery. Overall, an abdominoplasty will result in a flatter and firmer stomach. Living a healthy lifestyle helps patients maintain incredible results.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Our abdominoplasty patients often have questions about their upcoming procedure, many regarding cost, what to expect and more. Please review the questions and answers provided below. If you have further questions, please contact our surgical team.
How much does tummy tuck cost?
The cost of abdominoplasty will vary based on several factors, including the specific approach Dr. Librach and his surgical team takes and whether another procedure is combined into the surgery. A tummy tuck is considered an elective surgery, so it will not be covered by your insurance provider.
The amount of the tummy tuck includes the surgeon’s fees, anesthesia medications and the facility fees. However, it may not include preoperative medical testing, prescription medication, surgical garments or other postoperative supplies.

Will a tummy tuck repair my abdominal muscles?
Yes. Tummy tucks are utilized to improve the appearance of the abdomen, which includes correcting and repairing the abdominal muscles. A tummy tuck will repair abdominal muscles that have been separated or severely weakened due to significant weight fluctuation. During the abdominoplasty procedure, Dr. Librach will return the muscles to their normal position and suture them into place.
Can I combine another procedure with tummy tuck?
Yes. Abdominoplasties are often combined with other procedures, including breast lift, breast reduction, breast augmentation, or even liposuction.
Some of our patients who are mothers choose to undergo a “Mommy Makeover.” This is a combination of either a breast augmentation or breast lift with a tummy tuck.
Is the tummy tuck procedure painful?
Each plastic surgery procedure carries a different level of discomfort and requires different methods of anesthesia. The tummy tuck procedure itself is not painful. Our patients are given general anesthesia so they remain unconscious during the entire procedure.
As with any surgery, post-operative discomfort is common and can be treated with prescription pain medication prescribed by your doctor. Do not take other medication before consulting with your doctor or a professional.
When can I start exercising again after surgery?
Every patient recovers at a different pace. During the recovery process, it is important to listen to your body as it heals. Generally, our patients resume light walking within a few days, gentle walking within two weeks and more strenuous exercise four to six weeks after the procedure.
Exercise can help surgical patients heal better. Patients who have not exercised before should begin an exercise program to help reduce swelling, tone the muscles and lower the chance of blood clots.
Our surgeons will advise when it is safe to return to your normal workout routine. Avoid vigorous exercise until you can do it comfortably.
Will I have a scar?
Abdominoplasty is a surgical procedure which requires an incision, so it may leave behind some scarring. Dr. Librach and his surgical team are careful when placing the incision to make sure any scarring will be easily concealed by undergarments or a swimsuit.
We can also recommend products to use to help minimize scarring. Overtime, the scar can fade drastically until it is barely visible.
How can I maintain my results?
You can maintain your abdominoplasty results by following a healthy, well-balanced diet and exercising regularly. Avoid weight gain as it may reverse the effects of the surgery.
Many of Dr. Librach’s patients find that after recovering from their tummy tuck surgery and seeing their amazing results, they are more motivated to stay in shape to maintain their fit physique. A few patients said it is easier to stay active without having excess fat and loose abdominal skin.
