Can I get body contouring surgery if I am overweight?
Yes. Although body contouring surgery is most thought of to remove excess fat and tissue after weight loss or pregnancy, it can also be performed on some patients who are overweight. Schedule a consultation with Dr. Librach so he can determine whether you would be a good candidate for the surgery.
Can I get body contouring after bariatric surgery?
Yes, it is very common for someone to have body contouring done after bariatric surgery. The best results for body contouring occur if a patient has lost all of the weight they were planning to lose or their weight has become stable. The combination of having bariatric surgery with body contouring can the patient the dramatic results they are looking for.
Is body contouring safe?
There are always risks anytime a patient goes under the knife, but body contouring is generally considered a safe procedure. To reduce your risks, make sure the surgeon performing your procedure is board certified and has a proven success record with cases like yours.
How much body contouring can be done at one time?
This answer could differ from patient to patient. Common combined body contouring procedures include breast surgery and a tummy tuck. The amount and number of procedures done at one time should be determined by a professional, board certified surgeon. Your safety comes first.
How long before I can go back to work after body contouring surgery?
Most patients generally return to work in approximately five days if a single procedure is performed. If there are multiple procedures, up to three weeks is recommended.
What is liposuction?
Liposuction is the removal of unwanted fat. Small incisions are made to the concentrated area and a device called a cannula is inserted to remove the fat. A cannula is a narrow tube that is moved back and forth to break up the fat so it can then be suctioned out. Liposuction surgery itself is not a painful procedure. Patients are put under general anesthesia and will awake once the treatment is complete.
When will I see my final results after liposuction?
All patients heal at different rates. All patients will have noticeable swelling during the first week. The following weeks bruising and swelling will subside and the final results of the surgery will unfold. Following post-operative instructions will lead to faster recovery.
